“I am marathon maniac #2376, I’ve run 30 marathons. I have two major marathons done, Chicago & NYC. My goal is to get all of them, & hopefully qualify for Boston by the time I turn 50. I’m not sure how many half marathons I’ve run, my favorite is the Giant Race (why I’m a Legacy), SeaWheeze, Kaiser, NYC Half and I truly miss running NWM half & full. I’m really into working out to benefit my running, so I also do Iron Strength workouts by Dr. Jordan Metzl & the Sweat App aka BBG by Kayla. I like to encourage everyone to ‘do something everyday.’ My family, friends & Insta followers are probably sick of hearing me say it. But I encourage & challenge everyone to do some form of workout on a daily, endorphins are the best way to improve your mood! I’m an LCSW, so therapist by trade, which helps my running. I ‘therapize’ myself during races. “

“Hi! My name is Lili and I’m super excited to be part of the 2019 Starting Nine team – especially as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Giant Race! I moved to the East Bay from southern California almost 14 years ago, and quickly became a huge Giants fan! My family has participated in the Giant Race series since 2015. I started training for half marathons in 2011 and haven’t looked back- I’ve now run five full marathons and am training for number six. I started doing triathlon as well about six years ago and completed two 70.3 races last year. Running and triathlon keep me sane! It has taught me so much about believing in myself and refusing to give up. When I’m not training, I’m raising two kids, being a Girl Scout Leader and doing production and social media for two charity fundraising events. I am so happy to be part of this series this year, and can’t wait to cheer everyone on out there!!”
“Hey fellow warriors! My name is Liz Palmer (aka Lizzie, aka @busylizzieSF) and I am super excited to be one of the Starting 9 Giant Race ambassadors. I started running in 2015 after being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a chronic, debilitating disorder that causes inflammation in the spine. Without a cure, my spine will eventually fuse, limiting my range of motion. My rheumatologist basically told me to use it (my body) or lose it (my mobility) so I decided to be a runner and raise awareness about my disease. After dropping 100 pounds due to an active lifestyle, I have learned to manage my disease through running, yoga, and other exercise because I will not let this disease run my body. A week after moving to San Francisco from Washington, DC in 2016, I ran my first Giant Race (5k) and I became a fan of the Giant Race and the Giants ever since. In 2018, I ran my first half marathon at the Giant Race SF. Last year, I ran the entire race series for the first time and I had SUCH a great time, I am doing it again in 2019 (including the first ever Lou Seal Challenge)! In my spare time, I like to run with my run fam SF Runs and my run crew Concrete Runners, go to Giants games with my husband Jesse, and play with my adorable kitties, Nicky and Gracie.”
“My name is Marie, I’m a mom of two boys, 12 and 9, and a happy wife! Married to the love of my life for 12 years and been working as a Intensive Care Registered Nurse for 14 years! My love for running started back in 2012, my first run was in 2005, but it rekindled after running the Nike Women’s Half in 2012, and I joined my Running CRew Concrete Runner’s in 2014. I’ve ran the SF Giant Race 5k in 2013, and been running the SF Giant Race 10k as my annual run with my Running CRew since 2014! I’ve ran many Represent Running races, the SF Marathon Full, first and second half marathon, Ragnar Relay Napa, The Town Half Marathon, Bay to Breakers, Hot Chocolate SF Races, and been running Honolulu Marathon every other year starting in 2015! I love representing Bay Area Races, I’ve been a Represent Running Ambassador, and now the SF Giant Race Ambassador!”
“I started my running life with the Giant Race in 2012. It was something new to me and I had fitness goals every year. I started with 5k in 2012, 10k in 2013 and then the half marathon in 2014 and I’ve been running ever since. I have also run the Scottsdale Giant Race and also Sacramento Giant Race and of course San Jose. I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States in 1994. You would not believe why I fell in love with the Giants. My first baseball game was courtesy of Brian Johnson, when he was traded to the Giants, I forever fell in love. Ask me in the future how my Brian Johnson story came about!“
“I am a veterinary student, a cycling instructor, and most importantly, a huge Giants fan! The Giant Race 10k was the first race I ever ran, right before starting college in 2012, and since then I’ve run every distance in San Francisco, as well as the 5k San Jose and Sacramento, once each. Since that first race, I’ve run 6 half marathons, including the iconic Nike Women’s Half and the Rock n Roll SF, as well as the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Washington DC, several 10ks, and numerous 5ks. As a cycling instructor and a Giant Race runner, I’m really passionate about making fitness fun and accessible for everyone! I love trying new things in fitness, and I love sharing it with family and friends (and pets!). I’m excited to spread this energy as a member of the Giant Race Starting Nine!”
“My name is Leana, aka Le (@LeRunsSF) and I am so excited to be a part of the 2019 Giant Race Ambassador team! I was born and raised in the East Bay and moved out to San Francisco in 2011. The San Francisco Giant Race has become an annual tradition for me since running the 10K in 2012. While running has always been a great personal outlet to process my thoughts and burn off some extra energy, I love running with others (shout out to my run club, WeRunSF) and connecting with runners everywhere! You can often find me running the streets of San Francisco or hiking the trails around the Bay Area. So far, I’ve completed five full marathons and many half marathons and 10Ks. This year, I’m eager to conquer the goals I’ve set for myself and set some new PRs all across the board! When I’m not running, you can find me traveling the world, drinking sour beers, finding my next restaurant to review on Yelp, petting ALL the dogs, or working in some cross training with a yoga or spin class. GO GIANTS!”
“Hi everyone!! I’m super excited to be back for a second year as a Giant Race Ambassador. I am a big Giants fan and absolutely love the Giant Race series. Their passion for supporting fitness and helping local charities is amazing. I am heavily into fitness participating in various race’s such as Spartan, Triathlons, Duathlons, Marathons and Cycling. This race series means a lot to since it is where it all began for me. When I’m not racing you’ll find me traveling to National Parks and unique places doing lifestyle and outdoor photography for the outdoor industry. I love nature and encouraging others to get outside and enjoy life. I’m very excited and honored to be part of the 2019 Giant Race Ambassador Team and look forward to seeing you on the course!!”
“Hi, I’m Josh. I bleed Black and Orange. Running is my therapy. I’m a sports fanatic. This is my 3rd Year with the Giant Race. I live this race series and I love the people I meet along the way. There’s no better community. I can’t wait to meet you out there. Go Giants!”
